It is the purpose of the Information Services Department to provide the infrastructure and support for all of the information network needs of the Personnel Board and to provide technical assistance to jurisdictions using the PBJC online information systems.

Application Development Department Overview:

The Application Development Department provides web-based systems and applications designed to ensure efficient and effective transactions and services by the Personnel Board. The department is responsible for design and development of software applications that meet business specifications.  Other responsibilities include analysis of business needs, software design and development, unit testing, performing design and code reviews, and development of technical documentation. Additional responsibilities include performing system analysis, code modifications, and functional testing to troubleshoot application production issues.

Business Processing Department Overview:

Business Processing Department provides functional support for the Board’s online processing systems and supports the Board and its member jurisdictions with their data reporting and analysis needs. The department serves as the central operations unit and point of contact for the processing of all Merit System personnel actions, including, but not limited to, hires, transfers, promotions, status changes, salary adjustments, premiums, leaves of absence, and separations and is responsible for maintaining all Merit System employee personnel records. Information Technology Department Overview:

The Information Technology Department is responsible for maintenance, and administration of the IT infrastructure necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the Personnel Board. The department provides technical support to all Board departments to ensure network and system needs are met.   In additional the department is responsible for the continuous operation of local area networks, providing network security and setting technology standards, policies and procedures.

Systems & Reporting Department Overview:

Systems & Reporting Department is responsible for administering internally and externally Personnel Board systems, producing needed data and reports, and ensuring the effective receipt, management, and interfacing of data from external jurisdictions.  The department works closely with other Board departments and jurisdictions to identify and develop recurring data reports that present needed information, receive and execute special data requests, and implement newly developed systems and system enhancements/upgrades.  This department is also be responsible for ensuring end users are appropriately trained on systems, establishing appropriate system rights and access patterns, receiving feedback on needed modifications to existing systems, and communicating  the needed changes to external vendors or internal application developers.
